Bear Grylls Mission Survive: Series 2 Following the award winning success of series one, Bear Grylls Mission Survive returns; in which seven celebrities are dropped into one of the most dangerous wildernesses on the entire planet – the South African bush. They will embark on a 12 day epic mission like no other. Only the courageous will survive this brutal expedition to the very end. They must trek over treacherous mountains, find and eat wild food, build shelter and make fire as they navigate their way to the coastline and safety.
[edit] Part 1
Seven celebrities face a challenging expedition in the South African bush, from being suspended by rope from a helicopter to eating mopane worms and navigating through scorched plains, the stars face a range of tough tasks and Bear himself eliminates one of them after each challenge. Actor Neil Morrissey, choreographer Jason Gardiner, women's footballer Alex Scott, actresses Michelle Collins and Chelsee Healey, West End star Samantha Barks and former footballer Stuart Pearce make up the team.
[edit] Part 2
Neil Morrissey, Jason Gardiner, Alex Scott, Michelle Collins, Chelsee Healey, Samantha Barks and Stuart Pearce continue their expedition through the South African bush - or at least, six of them do, after one was eliminated last week. Their next mission involves locating their next meal - a dead springbok in the Karoo Mountains. The only problem is, to get it back they have to divide it into pieces and carry it in their rucksacks across ropes suspended 50ft above a rocky ravine. Anyone who fails goes without their meat - but it doesn't end there, as they then have to make camp and smoke the meat overnight. And that's just the first challenge.
[edit] Part 3
The five remaining celebrities are deep in the heart of the African bush, and with rations running low; Bear challenges them to choose from a selection of edible flora. But while some is a vital source of sustenance, others could kill them. After this, expedition leader Meg Hine pretends to be seriously injured and losing blood. The celebrities have only 40 minutes to make a stretcher and carry her over scrubland to the extraction point. Can they make it before Meg `dies' of organ failure? Finally, the group arrive at their new camp, but there is one last challenge - an assault course - before Bear decides who to send home.
[edit] Part 4
The celebrities move from the African bush to the coastal forest, where they must learn how to adapt to their new surroundings. Bear surprises the survivors by revealing they are camped only 30 feet away from three elephants - but their delight turns to disgust when they learn their first task - how to extract drinking fluid from the animals' dung to ensure survival in dire situations. They are then tasked with their first mission - to cross a canyon with a thumping waterfall and strong fast flowing water. As they bed down later, the mood within camp is strained and arguments begin.
[edit] Part 5
After eight days in the wild, the physical strain is taking its toll on the four remaining celebrities - but they know a place in the final is within reach. For their first task, they split into two teams and build rafts to get them safely across an estuary. However, the tide is coming in and with it the danger of a shark attack. Once across they each have to build their own shelter, to demonstrate what they have learnt from their experience, and are shocked by Bear's demonstration of how to stay hydrated when there is no clean water available. Will they take up the challenge to repeat his very personal method or walk?
[edit] Part 6
The Finalists fight it out to be crowned ultimate mission survivor. The first task sees the trio traversing a rocky coastline and performing a commando crawl 80ft above crashing waves. They no longer have any rations, so they must then forage for seafood in the shallows and rockpools, before joining Bear, Meg and Scott around the campfire to reflect on the competition. The next morning, Bear has a couple of surprises to see how they react to adversity, and then they face their last two challenges - making fire, a primary skill for a survivor, and racing to the top of a 65ft sheer cliff face.
