[edit] Information
A&E in the War Zone The United Nations estimates almost 200,000 people have been killed since Syria's civil war began, with many hundreds of thousands more injured. Millions have been forced from their homes, but the full human cost of the conflict is little known to the outside world because of the danger Western journalist’s face in trying to enter areas not controlled by the government. Most doctors have fled from those locations and many hospitals have been destroyed, but this documentary follows British trauma surgeon David Nott as he makes the perilous journey across the border into Syria to work alongside medics who have stayed behind. He carries out life-saving surgery in a facility forced underground by daily bombardment.
