African elephants emit a wide range of calls. Scientist now understand that these sounds have meaning. Research indicates that they combine the pitch and length of the sound. In addition they use low frequency signals that cannot be heard by humans. Newly invented Japanese equipment will be used to examine these low frequency sounds and display them graphically on the screen. Since elephants primarily learn language from their family, We will also return to an orphan released two years ago and see if it has mastered the art of elephant speech.
