[edit] Information
As the glaciers retreated some 14,000 years ago at the end of the Ice Age, the Great Lakes were revealed and began to fill. Scientists still debate about the formation of the world's largest bodies of fresh water. Perhaps they were carved out by those massive glaciers or maybe they were caused by an ancient comet that exploded in that area.
